Almost Wordless Wednesday

Today I bring you a song from my favourite film.

It is quite befitting because Baby Belle adores this film at the moment (especially the 'beast') and we are also off to Paris in a few days.  So enjoy...

Ikea Children's Mini Kitchen

It is no secret that I love going to Ikea for a family day out.  It all started years ago when I went off to Uni and my parents took me there so I could kit out my halls of residence room. Now when I go I love the childrens section for BB and she loves running around and playing there too...how times have changed.

So when an email dropped into my inbox asking if Belle would like to review the DUKTIG mini kitchen I knew she would be delighted. She loves baking with me and helping in the kitchen and she has lots of toy fruit and veg and pans which she loves playing with.

Instead of me explaining exactly how great it is we have put together a little video for you...

Belle plays with this daily!  At £66.38 from Ikea this is amazing value for money.  They are also available from a few other stores retailing at £80-£100. The pots and pan are sold separately and I love these because they are not your typical plastic type and look like small versions of the real thing!

The legs are adjustable to 3 heights, Belle is 21 months old and as you can see she can reach everything really well.

I really find it hard to fault this mini kitchen, from the aesthetics to the quality, it is perfect.  The only thing Belle struggles with are the doors being a bit hard to open, they need a bit of a tug because the magnets are quite strong but she mastered that after a day too.  For this price I think you would really struggle to find a better kitchen.

Ikea also do a whole Duktig Range to go with this kitchen and you can grow it by adding a top section too.

Something which I will be writing about more soon is 'play' and 'role-play'.  It is something I feel is so important to children in their development and growth, it is not given enough focus in schools and early childhood.  Ikea have carried out a research report called the 'Playreport' which is the world’s largest study of play and children’s development. They spoke to 8,000 parents and 3,000 children from over 25 countries. As part of this they have made a Facebook page called ‘make the world play more’ to help parents exchange thoughts around play and development www.facebook.com/maketheworldplaymore

Ikea are using this report to continually develop their children’s range and ensure that all IKEA products help children to develop different life skills.  I really think it is great a big company is doing this sort of research so please go and show your support on their facebook page.

Notebooks, Weddings and Holidays

I really have not had time to blog recently, not even ten minutes in the evening like I used to, but I am at the office today so taking a ten minute break to update all my lovely readers, thanks for sticking with me.

My life at the moment consists of notebooks. I know I could use the iPad or laptop but I really love to 'write' when I am organising things.

I have two for the wedding reception (right)
I have one for our holidays (lists of what we need to buy/take and places to go)
I have one for the house, blog and general musings (including BBs 2nd birthday)
Finally I have one for work

Needless to say a lot of my time in the last couple weeks has been taken up with wedding reception planning.  I really didn't appreciate how much organisation and planning goes into these things.  I am sooo grateful for my mum as I have passed on the Flowers to her and she is liasing with the Flourist with my chosen scheme, she is beyond amazing!

I also visited the first dress shop with a friend who was trying on a wedding dress as she is getting married abroad this coming August, she looked stunning!  We are arranging another appointment to go back with my bridesmaids, mum and of course Baby Belle to sort out my dress and theirs too.  It is a gorgeous boutique and the lady makes them all herself! We also have the wedding show coming up in March which should be a giggle, my bestie is getting married in September 2012 so we are looking for ideas for her wedding too.

Baby Belle has come on in leaps and bounds in the last couple weeks and her speech and vocab amaze me, everyday she comes out with something new! Last week hubby was chasing her when she turned around and said "no baba, go away!" *flings arm in air and points to other side of room* ('baba' means daddy in Farsi by the way) We were in fits of laughter.  BB and baba also started going to a daddy and toddler group and they had a fantastic time at that.

To end the week on a high last week I also received my Stunning Giorry Bag in time to take to Paris with me at the end of the month. I will be doing a proper review for you as soon as possible.

Anyway must get back to 'work'...

Swine Flu 2011

Last year I wrote a post "Swine Flu: To vaccinate or not to vaccinate" In which I voiced my concerns over the vaccine and tried to decide whether Baby Belle should have it or not.

In the end we decided against it, for the reasons I gave in the post, and people had mixed reactions, some agreed and some had it anyway just in case.

This morning I read about the gorgeous little Lana (Rest in Peace), a healthy 3 year old who passed away after having Swine Flu Symptoms for just 48 hours. This has left me scared and questioning everything again.

What are your thoughts?

Mummy's Shoes has a sponsor

Conversations are brewing at the moment about the event that is Cybermummy in June. For anyone reading this who has a ticket then please pop along to my Meet and Greet to introduce yourself.

Well I can tell you I have quite an amazing sponsor this year and I am over the moon to be working alongside one of Baby Belle's favourite brands. They are the creators of the legendary "Little People"....
